I am a biologist broadly interested in ecology, evolution, and conservation.  I have conducted scientific research on the molecular ecology of coyotes and wolves, the behavioral ecology of capuchin monkeys and hawk eagles, the population ecology of golden eagles, and the genetic mechanisms underlying singing in canaries.  I am currently studying the evolutionary genetics of the lone star tick, an aggressive species of tick that transmits diseases to humans and domestic and wild animals.

I am originally from Bogotá, Colombia, but grew up in Queens, NYC since I was 8 years old.  My interest in science formed in early childhood, but it wasn't until college that my love for nature and outdoor recreation coalesced into a career in ecology and evolutionary biology.
